Unaussprechlichen Kulten Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
Greetings in behalf the Esoteric Order of Dagon to all readers of the True “Bringer Of Death Zine”. Currently, the band has enough activity. Recently our 7” split “AZATHOTH - Azazel/Thot” came out through Iron Bonehead (Split with our coreligionists Godless). Also, Dark Descent has recently re-released our second album “People of the Monolith” on cd format. As for now, we have stopped playing live to focus only on preparing our new album, our New Chapter that we hope to record by the end of this year 2013.

2.How would you describe the musical sound of the newer music and how it differs from previous releases?
More than the “sound” or “style” each chapter creates a different and unique atmosphere, each one has to have its own identity and personality, its own sound, its own musical style. Our last chapter until now it is CHAPTER VII “AZATHOTH – Azazel/Azoth” which contains only one theme called “Lucifer Poseidon Cthulhu”, the last revelation of the “Aquae Creature” concept.  Musically speaking it is a half time theme with very obscure riffs and a classic Death Metal cut with a hypotonic end which intends to make the listener fall into a catharsis and trance.
CHAPTER VI “Lucifer Poseidon Cthulhu”  is musically lower and thicker, the sound its completely “organic”, the same as in a rehearsal room, the voice tune it´s much higher; the final result cause more “tension”  to who´s listening. Guitars are fully complementary not just by repeating “riffs” but if you listen close they are always doing dis-harmonies or different riffs at the same time creating a thicker atmosphere. Unlike CHAPTER V “The Madness from the Sea”, which is a consolidation of the concept “Blood Memory” where it´s represented every sea serpents from different cultures (like Kai Kai VilĂș  o el  Leviathan ) under the Lovecraftian Cthulu shape. Under this conceptual atmosphere we worked the Metal and music also has to adapt itself to create the right atmosphere. On the other hand “Wake up in the night of Walpurgis” is a pretty fast, sharp and brutal disc where it is evidenced our anxiety being the first album.

3.The lyrics cover alot of occult topics, how would you describe your views on Occultism?
The occultism has been wrongly mistaken as a matter “of faith” whether to “believe or not” like if in any case might be an “option”, like an issue of choosing one of the many actual religions. Occultism represents the natural hidden wisdom that the current man of the actual “Iron age” (Kali Yuga) ignores or despises. The fact the human being disowns “The Law” doesn´t mean it is oblivious to him. Only a few scientists got close to esoteric concepts through physic and quantum mechanics, resulting “strangely” coincident with legends and mythology. (“The coincidences  full of sense” like Nietzsche would´ve said). The human being is pretentious even when his “Involute science” ignores the source itself of the human life.
What I´m trying to do in each chapter of Unaussprechlichen Kulten it´s a “self-interpretation” of the Lovecraftian mythology and make a parallel with different cultures, with different legends, listening  my own “Blood memory” and waiting the ideas to get on their own into my mind like a whisper of the “Ancient ones”. It is the way where tradition and the clandestine cult might keep alive. The willing of the ancient ones it´s expressed through us. We just obey “the cause” we serve.
To some people who founds now reading my words might sound ridiculous, hallucinated or “over oxygenated” but that works in our favor. It kept us away from those people.
Even so all this knowledge it’s found currently distorted and intentionally manipulated by the “Electronic Messiah of Sion”, the real hand behind the internet and all the revolution of communications. The knowledge (gnosis) shouldn’t be seek through “social networks” but through the awakening of the own Kundalini serpent asleep in the spinal bone.

4. I know the bands name comes from the writings of Lovecraft, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in this author and also what other writers do you have an interest in?
It is evident, in the work of Lovecraft, the domain and knowledge about occultism, sarcastically delivered as “stories” or “fantastic literature” which converts it into a cult.
Actually there are many works, essays and studies who discuss in depth this theme.
In any way we are in the same vein as Lavey, we are not followers of his seventy American Satanism almost hippie. Am way close to Eliphas Levi, Rene Guenon, Madame Blabastky, the Goetia , Chilean mythology (Oreste Plath y M.Serrano) among others.
However I’m not going to recommend literature, it is better to be discovered by each one, books are only the 50%... if I get deep into details I will feed many Google “occultist”, Facebook philosophers, forum “terrorist”, satanic pdf collectors…

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
I remind very good shows with our brothers of MORTEM (Shows in Chile and PerĂș), also dates we did along with AFTER DEATH in Chile that were pretty awesome, a show with GRAVE  when they came to Chile, it was very powerful, I also remember good dates in Europe with Necroholocaust, that band it is way furious and obnoxious! But to me the greatest show ever was when opened for IMMOLATION in Chile, where we were the organizers of that show which allow us  to share with them for a couple of days, by taking them to rehearsed, we learn a lot from those Death Metal beast.

6. Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
Yes, we currently have a deal to go back to Europe at 2014, we already have close the deal with RoadMaster Booking so i hope anyone who is interested of having a show of U.Kulten in their country get in contact with us!

7.Recently you have put out a split with Chile's Godless, what are your thoughts of the other band that participated on the ep?
Godlees are our brothers and coreligionist in Chile from several years ago and we had in mind this project from a long time ago. They have our entire respect and I think they are the “strongest opponents” here in Chile… hahaha. I honestly think this 7” it’s prove that the Chilean scene of Metal underground it is becoming stronger in time. I also have the same respect for bands like Magnanimus, Atomicide, Demonic Rage,  Diabolical Messiah and Force of Darkness between others… This will be a Chilean Decade!!!

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of real death metal?
It´s true we are a third world band and not many people knows about us. A few of our records are outside  in a catalogue and it is very hard to go play outside of our country, the times we have had the chance to travel outside Chile have been with a lot of effort but in “feedback”  had been very good, we get many reviews from underground zines ( paper zines keep the underground alive!!!) we have many  foreign friends and I think these 13 years of work with the band has given us the satisfaction to be able to share our metal, you know all of these it is made by fans for fans!

9.I know that some of the other members participate in other bands, can you tell us a little bit more about them and what styles of music they play?
Yes we all have projects and parallel bands for example Butcher of Christ played in the past in Exterminate, Plague and Communion and currently plays in Perdition, all of them Black Metal bands and good ones indeed.
Atomizer Pig has his own band: ATOMICIDE, something way more bestial and simple, more in the War Metal vein with a lot of old Destroyer 666, Blasphemy, Archgoat, Black Witchery Beherit that type of bands. We have shared stage many times as well. I really like the style and I always try to cooperate in sound or in graphic themes with Atomicide.
Nyarlathotep (our guitar player) has his own Death Metal band called “Ancient Crypts”, a pretty good and classic one.
I have also a Death Metal project called Ocult666. Something in the classic Death Metal vein too. A mixture between Pestilence, Incantation, Master even with some thrasher riffs like Kreator.

10.What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases/
Occult Death Metal, that´s the direction, the greatest records of Unaussprechlichen Kulten are still yet to come. Musically speaking us stubbornly will keep inside the Death Metal, we will overcome our own physical and mental limitations, we will improve our techniques but we won´t “evolve” regarding lyrics, art and the “concept” in general will always be the same way.

11.What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Indeed all classic metal corresponds to my generation: old Metallica, Celtic Frost / Hellhammer, Mercyful Fate/ King Diamond, Slayer, Sacrifice… but obviously Death Metal is my thing, like a direct influence the idea it´s to mix Death Metal like  Nihilist-Entombed, Carnage-Dismember, Autopsy, Fatal, Mutilated, Carbonized, Asphyx, Mantas-Death, Grave, Grotesque, Traumatic , Rottrevore,  Sadistic Intent, Incubus, Mortem peruvian, DEMIGOD, Bolt Thrower. Lots of Tampa´s Florida Death Metal . Nocturnus, Monstrosity, Suffocation, Deicide… every generation from Tampa… Some of old good Grindcore bands kind of Impetigo, Repulsion, Blood, old Carcass from the Reek , I mean all that Death Metal by the end of the 80 and 90… there are many bands really.
I also like a lot current Black Metal bands, I think this style respecting the guitars has grown a lot, I especially like Deathspell Omega, Antaeus, Katharsis, Teitanblood, Horna.
Actually I found myself listening a lot Pentacle, Throneum, Nominon, Imposer, Voids of Vomits, Coffin Texts, Axis of Advance, the last ATARAXYS record it is amazing, Ascendant, Necrowreth, Sanguis Imperem, Unholy Lust… and many more that I might be forgetting.

12.Outside of music what are some of your interests?
In the sparse time left I had from the “normal work” and the rest of “social bondages” I dedicate it to practice sport and mostly to “Compilation of Death” zine, in where my brother Gabriel “exhumator” Gatica invited me to join, check www.compilationofdeath.cl for more details.

13.Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Thanks for make a space in your zine for us, we won´t give any advices or messages to random people.
